My Pregnancy Journey….

Hi Everyone!

As many of you may know I was recently  pregnant with twins, and now 4 months later raising 2 healthy girl/boy twins along side a teenager. I’ve had many of you DM’ing me asking questions about my journey being pregnant with twins and now raising them. Some of you are expecting and wanting tips and advise on what or what not to do or just curious to know how I did it. Thats what I am here for, to answer the questions of inquiring minds.

I’ve been told that I made pregnancy with twins look easy and raising all three look even easier. Honey do I have some things to share with you. In no way, shape or form did I intend for any of this to seem or look easy. Let me not be the last person to tell you this, but it is absolutely the total opposite. Raising twins and a teenager is not the easiest of things to do. Each of our children have different needs so everyday we are playing two different roles as parents. For example, the twins are infants so we have to be in “babymode” because they need constant attention for feedings, changing, and play time. Our teenager she is the total opposite she doesn’t need as much attention BUT we have to be in “teenage mode”(we all know what that is, we’ve been there done that) checking and making sure homework is done, extra curricular (if any), chores, and the attitudes that come with being a teenager.

So let’s start from the beginning. When I found out we were pregnant it was an exciting time. I always wanted more children(3 to be exact), and hubby didn’t have any biologically of his own. Kevin(hubby) and I got married 1.14.17 in Jamaica and let’s just say our wedding night was lit( as the kids would say). A month later, next thing we know, surprise we’re having babies.

My first doctors visit and ultrasound was how we found out we were expecting twins. The word shocked would be an understatement because I argued with the doctor and adamantly told her there was no way there were two babies and that perhaps there was a gas bubble inside along with the baby( you would of thought I knew what I was talking about) . Twins don’t run in my family(so we thought) and we didn’t find out until after the initial doctors visit that twins run in the family on both sides. Julia my doctor laughed at me and said “ Karla, I’m telling you there are two babies in there and you are indeed having twins, congratulations”. She then let me see them both and listen to their hearts beat. That’s when it all started to sink in, we were pregnant with twins!

Let me tell you, the first trimester was the most trying. I was sick and wanted to crawl into a hole and die. I cried and cried and second guessed myself as to why I wanted to do this again. I had morning sickness morning, noon, and night and when I threw up it hurt. I couldn’t eat anything because the sight of food made me sick to my stomach. I was in bed for the first few months, didn’t want to do or see anyone, and wanted to be left alone except for by my mom and sis. Let’s just say my first trimester was miserable to say the least.

How was I going to do this, raise 2 babies and a teenager? I cried, prayed, and I talked about it with friends and family and I then realized that I got this. Blessings come in twos and God doesn’t give you more than you can handle, plus with my loving and supporting husband I knew we would be just fine.

I cannot express enough how this is not easy. I still find myself someday’s struggling and feeling overwhelmed. We moved to a new home in July when I was 6 1/2 months pregnant(what were we thinking, huh) and our house still isn’t in order. The only rooms situated are the kids rooms. I have so much stuff I need to personally get done for myself and just don’t have the time, because all 3 kids occupy every hour, minute, and second of the day. I must say that as the twins get older it gets a little bit easier, especially at nights. I was used to waking up every two hours to feed and change them(talk about a walking zombie), but now it’s about every 4 to 5 hours at nights(Yay for progress). Might I add, having a teenager around adds for more helping hands especially when hubby is away at work.

To all my mama’s and mama’s to be you are not alone when you feel like motherhood has got you stressed. We all have our days and we all cope differently, but just remember to always ask for help(you are not being bothersome) we are humans too(even though Super Woman is more fitting) trust the process and you got this, God chose you for a reason!

P.s. Keep the questions coming, I have answers and insight to give. If you have anything to share please feel free to leave a comment.
